The Mr. TBRU contest is designed to be a fun and enjoyable event to enhance the overall TBRU experience. This contest is not part of any circuit or preliminary, but rather just an event to relax and have fun with. So get your Bear, Cub, or Admirer "game-on" and join the fun! Read more below about the contest. If you are interested in being a contestant be sure to check the box when you register for TBRU. If you have more questions you can contact the contest coordinator by emailing: contest@tbru.org.
Several prizes will be awarded along with the contest titles:
Any registered TBRU attendee can enter the Mr. TBRU contest. Full members of the Dallas Bears are ineligible to enter the contest.
It's easy and doesn't take a lot of time:
Contestants will be judged on a 1-10 scale using Olympic style scoring (lowest score and highest score in each category tossed out to produce the composite score). Highest overall score will be the winner of each category. All contestants/finalists will be judged on a separate ballot for the title of Mr. TBRU 15. All scoring will be monitored by a Tally Master and a member of the Dallas Bears Board of Directors to ensure accuracy and fair practices.

In the event any category has a large number of contestants, the contest coordinator may institute a finalist elimination based on the TBRU Theme Attire based scores. If a finalist process is going to be implemented the Contestants will be notified at the Contestant Meeting.
As mentioned earlier, the contest is for fun and is not a circuit or preliminary contest. The Dallas Bears ask each winner to do the following:
Anyone interested in applying to be a judge for the Mr. TBRU contest may submit your interest to the contest coordinator when you register (click the box) or via email to contest@tbru.org. Candidates must meet the following criteria to be selected as a judge:
Eligible judges names will be placed into a pool. The judge's names will be drawn out of the hat (raffle ticket style) on stage at the beginning of the contest by the President of the Dallas Bears. Judges names that are drawn will then be seated at the judges table.
The Dallas Bears is pleased to announce that the Emcee for the Mr TBRU XV Contest will be International Mr. Leather 2009 - Jeffrey Payne!
Originally from Maine, Jeffrey Payne relocated to Louisiana at the young age of 3 following the death of his mother, Sharon St. Cyr. He grew up in a Louisiana orphanage going on to attend Louisiana Tech University, and settled down in New Orleans. While in New Orleans, Jeffrey headed the compliance program for the Louisiana Department of Labor but was forced to relocate to Dallas, Texas when Hurricane Katrina shook New Orleans.
Jeffrey now has a BA from Texas A&M University, and until recently, worked as a Human Resource Manager for a Fortune 500 company and oversaw the corporate and sales divisions, as well as four manufacturing facilities located around the U.S. Jeffrey resigned his position with the company upon being selected International Mr. Leather 2009 and is now able to devote his time to living his dream of serving as an ambassador for the Leather Community. Jeffrey works diligently through the SSC Fund to create awareness and raise money for the many charitable organizations that his SSC Fund supports.
Jeffrey is honored to hold the titles of Mr. Dallas Eagle 2009, Mr. Texas Leather 2009, and International Mr. Leather 2009. He is an active member of the Leather Knights, Dallas Area Male Naturalists, National Leather Association - International, Dallas Independent Volleyball Association, Shirts and Skins, and Couples Metro Dallas, as well as a voting member of the Leather Archives and Museum. He enjoys volleyball, water volleyball, being a pastry chef, practicing some spare time massage therapy and, of course, traveling.
Jeffrey is married to David Roy and together they share their home in Dallas with their four children, Isabella & Lucy (miniature Dachshunds) and Korbin & Konner (miniature Poodles).
