Greg Dollgener Memorial AIDS Fund
The Greg Dollgener Memorial AIDS Fund was named in honor of our friend who died of AIDS in 1994. Despite his personal devastation by HIV, Greg taught us all strength and courage through volunteering at various AIDS organizations and helping those less fortunate than himself. Today, the all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) organization carries on those efforts by enhancing the lives of people with HIV/AIDS in the North Texas area by providing financial assistance for critical needs when resources are exhausted through other local organizations. We are able to provide last resort assistance to those with HIV/AIDS in ways that agencies are unable. Whether it is paying rent, assisting with utilities, paying insurance premiums or providing funding for transportation needs, GDMAF is there to make a difference.
Resource Center: Youth First
The Youth First program at Resource Center addresses the challenges LGBTQ youth face at home, in school, and in their community, providing meaningful and life-changing programs and activities that build self-confidence and improve the health and well-being of our community’s LGBTQ youth during their critical, formative years. The only program of its kind in Dallas County, Youth First serves middle and high school LGBTQ youth, ages 12 to 18, and offers access to an inclusive and welcoming environment where they are physically and emotionally safe, and their identities are embraced. Youth First saves lives by addressing the critical needs of LGBTQ youth in Dallas County who experience social isolation and low self-esteem due to a lack of family support and/or struggle with violence and harassment at school. Youth First provides meaningful and life-changing programs and activities to achieve the program’s goals to 1) reduce high-risk behaviors, 2) increase self-esteem, and 3) decrease social isolation among LGBTQ youth.
Dallas Hope Charities: Dallas Hope Center
Our mission is to reduce homelessness among LGBT young adults in North Texas by opening and operating the first LGBT-focused shelter in the Dallas area, tailored to the needs of individuals ages 18-24. We are calling it DALLAS HOPE CENTER. We provide LGBT-Focused, but not exclusive, safe shelter for up to one year for any young adults aged 18-24 in need. We also partner with others to provide case management, on-site staff, healthcare and mental health services. And we teach necessary life skills like state identification, pursuing education, and finding employment. We need your help to fund and grow this vital service in Dallas to house and support the community so no LGBT young adult in North Texas faces the prospect of homelessness alone.
